Join us for the best way to see Savannah on our Best of Savannah Tour! Your tour begins with your friendly local guide picking you up from your downtown hotel before heading out on your exciting adventure around Savannah.
Bask in the magical 30-acre park named for Georgia’s 33rd governor, Forsyth Park. Witness the most famous fountain in the city, first installed in 1858 and modeled after fountains in the Place de la Concorde in Paris. You will see locals strolling through the park, walking with dogs, reading amongst hammocks, art students sketching their surroundings, and maybe even local artisans working. There are also two children’s playgrounds, a concert and event space, a garden for the blind, basketball and tennis courts, and more! You will love this park that contributes to the local, everyday life in Savannah, and hosts many of the city’s most anticipated events.
You will have the opportunity to visit the historic Wormsloe State Park. The park begins with a stunning oak tree and Spanish moss sheltered avenue, pulling visitors toward the historic site. You will be led to the tabby ruins of Wormsloe, the colonial estate of Noble Jones and the oldest standing structure in Savannah. The park also runs programs and events, contains a museum with artifacts unearthed at Wormsloe, and displays a short film about the site and the founding of Georgia. The nature trail leads past the tabby ruins along the marsh to the Colonial Life Area, where you may get the chance to see demonstrators in period dress exhibiting tools and skills from colonial Georgia while programs and events are taking place.
Take in one of the most beautiful cemeteries in the world - Bonaventure Cemetery. The cemetery has existed since 1846 and was established in 70 acres of the original Bonaventure Plantation when the city’s existing cemeteries began nearing their capacities. Enjoy the beautiful traditional Victorian cemetery design, with its curving pathways, many trees and grassy areas, spanning nearly 103 acres. You will understand why, although a cemetery, it was common for families to meet and picnic within the grounds, while it continued to be a place of comfort for the friends and family of those buried there.
You will love visiting the heart of Savannah, dating to the 1700s, Savannah City Market. What used to be a place for locals to gather for groceries, services and other goods, has been preserved to now feature some of the Historic District’s most popular restaurants, art galleries, and other shops. Stroll through the courtyard between two Savannah squares to witness the culture and fun that Savannah has to offer.
Hop aboard Savannah Riverboat Cruise to take an enchanting tour of Savannah from the water. View the charm of Savannah on the impressive riverboat, which is donned with traditional red, white and blue riverboat colours, transporting you back to a time when gentility and relaxation was on the forefront. The tour leaves the dock next to the exact location where General Oglethrope first landed on the riverfront, and continues upriver into the Port of Savannah, and then turns back and heads under the Eugene Talmadge Memorial Bridge and past the historic riverfront. Your tour will also pass the world famous Waving Girl, Florence Martus, the shipyards, and the tip of Hutchinson Island and Old Fort Jackson. You will then head back upriver to dock.
Throughout your tour of Savannah you will also see multiple incredible points of interest such as Bull Street, Cathedral of Saint John, Owens-Thomas House & Slave Quarters, First African Baptist Church, City Hall, River Street, Mercer-Williams House, Telfair House, Georgia Port, and The Olde Pink House.
Once you have completed your historical and fun tour of Savannah, your guide will return you safely to your downtown hotel, or arranged destination.
